JatesLabs.com is being re-coded in Astro.js

website

Behind the Scenes of This Site

I'm currently in the process of converting this website from a Framer project into an Astro.js project.

Why, you may ask? Simply because I not only want to build up my web development skills, but also because I want to do some fun things with the site — games, interactive components, anything that requires real interactivity. Framer can handle these through Framer components or embeds, but if I'm going to start taking development seriously, I think it's about time I build a site that's full-code from beginning to end.

There's a practical angle too: going full-code means I won't need to upgrade my Framer plan if the site ever grows past what the free tier can handle.

The reason I chose Astro specifically was its emphasis on content. I can write posts like this one using nothing but MD files, which should give me far more flexibility with what I publish.

I'm excited to work on it. That said, don't expect it to be finished fast😅.
